Site Guiding
An opportunity for autonomous pilots to discover the numerous Chamonix flying sites and a variety of neigbouring resorts such as Verbier, Plaine Joux, Annecy, Mieussy , Saleve – all within one hours drive from Chamonix and many excellent but little known sites of the region . Come to Chamonix and fly, France , Italy and Switzerland in as many days .
The Chamonix valley boasts at least thirteen lift served sites and many more that are accessible with a little or a lot of hiking. Choosing the right site at the right time and in suitable conditions is almost an art and makes the difference between a superb flight or a ride back down in the lift ….. or an opportunity to add your own version of how rough the condtions are in Chamonix to the post flight bar room banter !
Chamonix is frequently accused of having powerful and turbulent flying conditions, this can be a very accurate description yet at the same time beginners have learnt to paraglide here in perfect conditions for over 25 years. Chamonix’s reputation is founded mainly on visiting pilots failing to understand when and where to fly and above all when not to fly ! One hour too late or 10 km more prevailing wind can make a considerable difference to the flying conditions. With site guiding we aim to set up you up for great flights in the best conditions possible and to optimise your time in the region.
An unknown flying site brings the need for an analysis and the need to use different techniques that flying at a known site may not touch upon. Flying at new sites is a fanatstic way of improving your skills and knowledge whilst having the pleasure of discovering new places.
